Standing Alternating Dumbbell Curls

Position two dumbbells to sides, palms facing in, and arms straight.

With elbows to the sides, raise one dumbbell and rotate forearm until forearm is vertical and palm faces shoulder. Lower to original position under control and repeat with opposite arm. Continue to alternate between sides.

When elbow is fully flexed, elbow should only travel forward slightly allowing forearm to be no more than vertical to allow for a relative release of tension in muscles between repetitions. Use a full range of motion with no swinging. Do not use momentum or leaning back to get the weight up. This will only lead to injuries. ‘Check your ego at the gym door before entering the gym floor.’ To eliminate ‘cheating’ you can do this exercise seated.
