My road to being a competitor started early in 2007. One morning, I had a good look at myself and wondered “What happened?”
In my younger days I was Athletic. I participated in the “Jeux du Québec” and won a Silver Medal for Tennis, did long distance running, cycling and anything I could possibly get myself into, just to get moving.
Life went on. Got over weight. On this day in 2007, I decided that I was going to do something. Got myself a gym membership and disciplined myself into going at least 3-4 times a week, no matter what. I did. There was a lady working out at the same gym and I thought she looked phenomenal! We talked a little about competitions, but I put all this info in the back of my head.
I met Steve Oldfield, my current trainer, at the same gym. He came to me and asked if I would be interested in competing within the IDFA organization. I thought he was nuts and went on my merry way. Next thing i knew, I was emailing him to get more info about this competing thing. Best move I ever did!
I started training for the May 2008 IDFA Novice Classic on August 2007. I never went back! Never regretted a training session and I am still so happy to this day to be a part of the IDFA family.
May 2008 – IDFA Novice Classic – Toronto – Placed 2nd Tall Figure
June 2008 – IDFA Montreal Classic – Placed 1st Masters and 3rd Overall
March 2012 – IDFA Montreal Classic – Placed 4th Masters and 5th in the Open
March 2013 – IDFA Montreal Classic – Placed 1st Masters and 1st Open (earned my IDFA Pro card)
I will be making my IDFA Pro debut at the 2013 IDFA International Championships in Pro Figure. Come cheer me on! Pro Figure will be stepping on stage at 6:00pm. See you there.
